S.Koreans Sweep Ballet Competition

South Korean dancers have won four gold medals at the Varna Ballet Competition in Bulgaria.

Two male and two female South Korean dancers have won gold medals in the senior and junior divisions. All are students at the Korea National University of Arts.

Koreans also won silver medals in the junior male and female divisions.

The biennial event was established in 1964 and is one of the world’s top four ballet competitions, along with the International Ballet Competition (IBC) in the U.S., the Moscow International Ballet Competition in Russia and the Prix de Lausanne in Switzerland.

In particular, Park Se-eun, with her gold in the senior division at Varna, has now placed first in three of the world’s top four ballet competitions.
