North Korean leader Kim Jong-il has reportedly given 160 luxury cars as gifts to his top party officials recently.

Radio Free Asia cited a Chinese businessman who travels to the North as saying that the presentation of the gifts was part of a national event.

Kim is known shower his aides with high-end presents in return for their loyalty.

The United Nations bans exports of luxury goods to North Korea.
