Progress Made in Negotiations on Broadcasting Rights

Korea Communications Commission Chairman Choi Si-jung says that the nation's three leading broadcasters have made progress in negotiations on broadcasting rights to air major sporting events.

In a meeting with CEOs of domestic broadcasters on Friday, Choi said that the heads of the nation's three leading broadcasters --KBS, MBC and SBS -- recently held a meeting to discuss the matter.

KBS President Kim In-kyu and MBC President Kim Jae-chul said on Friday that the three broadcasters are discussing the matter and are approaching an agreement to form a consortium within the broadcasting industry.

Choi and the CEOs also discussed using digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) services to broadcast programs during natural disasters.
