Minimum Wage Up 5% for NK Complex Workers

The minimum wage of North Korean workers at the Gaeseong Industrial Complex has been raised by five percent.

Unification Ministry spokesman Chun Hae-sung told a briefing that the complex management committee and North Korea's Central Guidance Bureau for Special Zone Development agreed to the wage hike on Thursday.

The minimum wage has been raised from a figure equivalent to 57 dollars and 80 cents to over 60 dollars a month.

The spokesman said that South Korean firms operating in the complex have also agreed to hold regular meetings with the North on issues related to staff levels and worker assignments.
