AmeriCares provides medical aid to N.K.

A U.S. relief organization said Monday that it has delivered medical supplies worth US$3 million to North Korea in the latest in a series of twice-a-year shipments started in 1997. AmeriCares, based in New Cannan, Connecticut, said its humanitarian program director Aimee Gilbert accompanied the shipment to oversee distribution. on. She was quoted as saying that we continue to be concerned by the profound levels of malnutrition found in the pediatric hospitals and orphanages with which we work. We remain committed to helping those suffering and in need throughout North Korea. The agency said the relief was dispensed by the North Korean Flood Damage Rehabilitation Committee to patients and residents at three hospitals and two orphanages.
