Gov't Asks China for Briefing on NK Leader’s Visit

The government has asked the Chinese government for a briefing on North Korean leader Kim Jong-il’s latest visit to China.

A source says Seoul made the request to Beijing through a diplomatic channel given the necessity of an explanation on Kim's sudden trip.

A high-level official at the South Korean Embassy in Beijing is expected to go to the Chinese Foreign Ministry for the briefing early this week.
