Gov't to Improve Test Format

The government will revise a test format that will require students in primary and secondary schools nationwide to write out some of their answers as of next year. To date, the tests are primarily multiple-choice based.

The Education, Science and Technology Ministry on Monday held a meeting with city and provincial education officials and notified its plans aimed at improving tests for elementary, middle and high schools.

The ministry proposed that students' writings and discussions be observed during class for accurate performance evaluations.

Currently, only six education offices have internal guidelines that state more than 20 to 30 percent of the total test questions should require descriptive answers.
