The Korea Freedom League (KFL), a local right wing non-governmental organization, obtained special status as an NGO of the United Nations at the U.N. Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) plenary session held Tuesday. A KFL spokesman said Wednesday the participants at ECOSOC's full session unanimously passed the motion to grant the KFL U.N. NGO status, adding that the organization can now attend ECOSOC-related meetings. Though the KFL is not entitled to make proposal for the agenda of ECOSOC meetings, the group can comment on the items to a certain extent. However, there are no such restrictions at ECOSOC sub-group meetings.
