SK Humanitarian Aid Group Requests Rice Aid for NK

A humanitarian group has requested the South Korean government to send rice to North Korea in the wake of the North’s flood damage. Attention is focused on if Seoul will give its approval.

The Unification Ministry said that the group has asked the government to send some 100 tons of rice to North Korea.

Ministry spokeswoman Lee Jong-ju said the ministry would comprehensively determine if the rice can be categorized as items for flood relief in North Korea and review past experiences in providing flood relief to the North in order to make its decision.
