Officials in Seoul said Monday U.N. Undersecretary-General Kenzo Oshima will make successive visits to South and North Korea from this week. They said Oshima, in charge of humanitarian affairs and emergency relief at the U.N., visited China over the weekend and will also travel to the two Koreas and Japan. The undersecretary and his delegation will visit North Korea four days, including Pyongyang and Gangwon Province, before coming to Seoul. Officials said Oshima will talk with the Seoul government about relief aid to North Korea. Oshima, who will then visit Japan before heading back to New York Aug. 11th, warned in May that some 1 million North Korean elderly and children may lose their food rations because of a lack of international contributions.
