A senior government official in South Korea says it appears an expected meeting of the Workers’ Party representatives has not yet taken place in North Korea.

The official quoted as evidence an editorial in the Thursday edition of North Korea’s state-run Rodong Sinmun that said DPRK Foundation Day on September ninth was highly meaningful as it marked to the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the Workers’ Party and the run-up to the party representatives’ meeting.

The official added that this year’s events to commemorate Foundation Day appear to have been similar in size and proceedings to previous years.
