2 Koreas to Hold Talks on Family Reunions

South and North Korea will likely hold soon working-level talks on preparing for reunions of separated families as proposed by the North.

A Unification Ministry official in Seoul said Sunday that Red Cross officials of the two sides are discussing schedules for the reunions as the North's Red Cross proposed Saturday holding reunions around the Chuseok holidays.

The ministry will complete the discussions and notify the North of the schedule as early as Monday.

Seoul will restrict the agenda for the working-level talks to reunions, though Pyongyang expressed hope that both sides can launch humanitarian cooperation projects following the reunions.

About one month is expected to be needed to hold a reunion given the time needed to prepare.

The two Koreas since 1985 have held 17 family reunions, with the last coming on September 26th last year for six days on Mount Geumgang.
