Gyeonggi to Deliver Flour to NK Thursday

Gyeonggi Province will send 300 tons of flour to North Korea’s Gaeseong region as part of efforts to help flood victims there.

The flour will be delivered via the Dorasan Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Office near the inter-Korean border on Thursday.

The flour will be delivered by the Korean Sharing Movement, a civic group that runs assistance programs for the North. The 300 tons of flour is enough to feed ten percent of Gaeseong’s population, or around 30-thousand people, for a little more than a month.

Gyeonggi plans to have the flour used to feed children there.

Earlier on August 17th, Gyeonggi Province delivered antimalarial aid to the communist state. And late last month, Gyeonggi signed a memorandum of understanding with civic groups to provide six months’ worth of food for some five-thousand North Korean infants.
