“NK Delegates Conference Postponed”

A North Korean human rights group, Good Friends, says the third delegates’ conference of its Workers’ Party has been postponed due to weak attendance by members due to the flooding.

The group cited sources inside North Korea as saying that representatives from around the communist state who were in Pyongyang for the meeting were notified of the delay.

Prior to that, some of the South Korean media reported that officials at international agencies in North Korea had cited North Korean officials using the same explanation.

The South’s Unification Ministry has not confirmed whether the meeting has been pushed back to a later date.

However, it is understood that the meeting has not been held on Wednesday, September 15th. North Korea announced in June a plan to open the party delegation conference in the first half of September, of which the last day is Wednesday.
