Civic Groups Send 530 Tons of Flour Aid to NK

A shipment of 530 tons of flour sent by civic groups in Seoul will be delivered to North Korea on Thursday morning as part of a humanitarian assistance project to help the North cope with recent flood damage.

A Unification Ministry official in Seoul says 400 tons of flour sent by the Korean Sharing Movement and 130 tons from the Korean Council for Reconciliation and Cooperation will arrive at the North's border city of Gaeseong on Thursday morning.

The government has approved a cross-border visit by ten members from the civic groups and 33 drivers to deliver the flour aid.

A ministry official says that 200 tons of rice aid from a different civic group was also approved Wednesday for delivery to the North.
