The second round of Red Cross working-level talks for reunions of families separated by the Korean War is slated to begin at 10 am Friday in the North's border city Gaeseong.
The two Koreas will focus their negotiations on the venue and number of families allowed to join the temporary reunions, two points the two sides failed to reach agreement on during the working-level talks last Friday.
North Korea had said that the reunions should take place inside the Mount Geumgang resort without clarifying an exact location. Meanwhile, South Korea had demanded to use a South Korean facility, an inter-Korean family reunion center, at the North’s Mount Geumgang resort.
In addition, South Korea had called for reunions for more than 100 families, but the North demanded to limit the number to just 100 as was the case in previous reunions.
The two Koreas have reached an agreement on the schedule of the reunions from October 21st to the 27th, as well as on preparations, including confirmations that the family members are still alive.
Scheduled for attendance at the talks on Friday are two officials each from South Korean National Red Cross, and the Red Cross Society of North Korea.
