Two Koreas Resume Red Cross Talks for Family Reunions

Red Cross officials from the two Koreas are meeting for a second round of working-level talks on Friday to discuss preparations for a reunion of separated families.

The two sides are again trying to reach an agreement on the venue and number of families allowed to join the temporary reunions during the talks that opened in the North’s border city of Gaeseong.

During the first round of talks, the North said it wants the reunions to take place inside the Mount Geumgang resort without clarifying an exact location. The South, for its part, demanded that the reunions open in the family reunion center in the scenic mountain resort.

Also during the previous talks, South Korea called for the reunions of more than 100 family members, but the North demanded to limit the number to just 100, as was the case in previous reunions.
