The 2010 Seoul Theatre Olympics kicked off Friday for a 45-day run.

Themed on "love" this year, the Olympics is hosted by an international committee consisting of world directors such as Robert Wilson of the U.S. and Wole Soyinka of Nigeria.

The Olympics, inaugurated in Greece in 1995, has been held in Japan, Russia and Turkey.

Some 40 productions from 13 countries will be staged at various venues in Seoul.

Seoul City expects the Theatre Olympics to raise Seoul’s status as a global city in art and performances.
