An ethnic-Korean poet in China has been selected as one of China’s top ten most outstanding poets from the nation’s minority ethnic populations.

Nam Young-jeon received the honor with the nine other poets during an award ceremony held in Qinghai on September 23rd.

A collection of poems written by the honorees was also published by a Chinese publishing house.

A Chinese poetry expert described Nam’s poems as innocent, vigorous and filled with understanding and love for nature and life.

The 62-year-old poet served as the president of the Korean-language Jilin Newspaper in China and launched a Korean-language literature magazine named “Jangbaeksan (Mt. Jangbaek)” in 1980.
