'Facilities for Reunion in Good Condition'

The Unification Ministry says the facilities to be used for the planned inter-Korean family reunions at North Korea’s Mount Geumgang are in good condition.

Ministry spokesman Chun Hae-sung told a news briefing Friday that the government will soon receive a detailed briefing from the Hyundai Asan officials who inspected the family reunion center and the Mount Geumgang Hotel.

Chun said that starting October 20th, the government will launch active efforts to prepare the facilities for the reunions, including sending staff to the North to help prepare.

Of 36 Hyundai Asan officials who visited the North on Wednesday to inspect the facilities, 27 have returned. The remaining nine plan to stay there until the reunions end.

Meanwhile, Chun said that Seoul currently has no plan to send a response regarding the North's Thursday request for working-level talks to resume suspended inter-Korean tourism projects.
