S.Korea Sends 200 Inspectors to NK for Reunions

South Korea says some 200 officials will visit North Korea’s Mount Geumgang resort to make preparations for reunions of families separated by the Korean War that will start on October 30th.

The Ministry of Unification in Seoul says that of the officials, the first group of 37 went to the North Korean resort on Tuesday with the task of checking reunion facilities.

A second group of some 40 officials will visit Geumgang on Wednesday.

A ministry official said that reunion facilities are generally in good condition but that more thorough examinations are needed.

Previously, 36 officials of the privately owned Hyundai Asan and its contractors visited Geumgang on October 13th to inspect reunion facilities. Of the 36, 27 have returned home and nine plan to stay there until the reunions end November fifth.
