NK Committe Wants to Meet with S.Korean Counterpart

The North Korean Committee for Implementation of the June 15 Joint Declaration has proposed consultations be held with its South Korean counterpart.

The North Korean committee made the proposal in a fax sent to the South on Wednesday. The fax said the North’s committee hopes to meet at an appropriate time to discuss ways to pursue unified media activities.

Observers say the North apparently made the proposal to pressure Seoul to make changes to its policies on Pyongyang as the South continues to abide by a ban on dealings with the North that was instituted in late May.

The South’s committee relayed the fax to the Unification Ministry in Seoul.
