UM: S.Korea Has Broad Engagement Policy for NK

Unification Minister Hyun In-taek says South Korea is exercising a broad engagement policy on North Korea.

Hyun said Thursday morning that Seoul’s policies on Pyongyang are based on seeking denuclearization and contain plans for large-scale economic cooperation and broad support for the North.

The minister said the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula will bring peace and will give the North the chance to revive its economy. He stressed that Pyongyang should try to coexist with the international community by way of an open-door policy.

Hyun said that acceleration of denuclearization would allow North Korea to increase international investment.
