S-N Family Reunions to Begin Saturday

The two Koreas will hold reunions for separated families at the Mount Geumgang resort in North Korea for seven days starting Saturday.

Ninety-seven North Koreans will reunite with some 440 long-lost South Korean kin during the first round of two reunion sessions that will run from Saturday to Monday. The group will hold a total of six reunions, including group and individual reunions.

The group departed for Mount Geumgang at 8:30 a.m. Saturday from Sokcho. The group will take part in a group reunion from three in the afternoon.

Next week, 96 South Koreans will meet with 207 North Korean family members during the second round of reunion sessions from Wednesday to Friday.

The two Koreas have held a total of 18 family reunions since 2000. The most recent family reunions were held in September of last year.
