Inter-Korean Family Reunions Enter 2nd Day

Reunions of Korean families separated by the Korean War have entered their second day at North Korea’s Mount Geumgang resort.

A group of 97 North Koreans had individual reunions with their long-lost South Korean kin for two hours from 9 a.m. Sunday at a hotel in the resort.

The reunions began from 3 p.m. Saturday in groups at a reunion facility.

As the first of two scheduled, they will end Monday with farewell meetings.

Four Korean War prisoners of war were included among the North Korean participants.

The oldest North Korean participant, a 90-year-old man, saw his son for the first time in 60 years after leaving home to join the war. At that time, his son was only 100 days old.

Next week, 96 South Koreans will see 207 of their relatives living in North Korea in the second round of reunions Wednesday to Friday.
