The first of two sessions of inter-Korean family reunions ended after a three-day run on Monday at North Korea's Mount Geumgang resort.

The South Korean participants said goodbye to their North Korean kin during an hour-long farewell ceremony before leaving the North at 1 p.m.

On Sunday, the families held individual reunions behind closed doors.

The second three-day reunion session, with over 300 family members scheduled to participate, will start Wednesday at Geumgang.

The unions between families separated by the Korean War are the first to be held in 13 months.
