NK Fishing Boat Crosses Western Sea Border

A North Korean fishing boat crossed the Northern Limit Line (NLL) inter-Korean maritime border in the Yellow Sea on Wednesday but later returned to the North following warning shots fired by the South Korean Navy.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said that a North Korean fishing boat crossed the western sea border north of the South Korean island of Udo at 7:18 a.m., after which the South Korean Navy issued three warnings before firing ten warning shots at 8:43 a.m.

The North Korean ship then returned to the North at 9:57 a.m.

A JCS official said that the North Korean fishing boat stayed in South Korean waters for more than two hours because the tides were low at the time.
