UN Command Repatriates Remains of 2 NK Soldiers

The United Nations Command says it repatriated the remains of two North Korean soldiers via the truce village of Panmunjeom on Wednesday.

The remains, found in the Imjin River, apparently drifted to the South in September in the wake of heavy flooding in the North.

A U.N. Command official said three North Korean military officials crossed the Military Demarcation Line to confirm that the remains did indeed belong to North Korean soldiers.

The U.N. Command then transferred the coffins carrying the remains to the North at around 10 a.m., with some 20 U.N. Command officials present during the exchange.
