S.Korean Red Cross to Deliver Rice Aid to NK on Tuesday

The South Korean Red Cross will send five-thousand tons of rice from China to a flood-devastated region in North Korea starting Tuesday.

Unification Ministry spokeswoman Lee Jong-joo told reporters that the rice provisions arrived at China’s Port of Dandong on Monday and that the aid will begin to be sent to the Sinuiju area of North Korea starting Tuesday. She added that the delivery of the rice is expected to be concluded by next weekend.

The South’s Red Cross sent three million packages of instant noodles to North Korea late last month for flood victims. It has also, thus far, delivered two-thousand tons out of a total of ten-thousand tons of cement it pledged to send to the North.
