Russia's Culture Ministry has awarded a letter of commendation to the artistic director of the Korea National Ballet, Choi Tae-ji, in recognition of her contribution to cultural exchanges between Russia and South Korea.

The Korea National Ballet said Friday that Russia's Culture Minister Aleksandr Alekseyevich Avdeyev awarded the letter to Choi on Thursday afternoon.

Avdeyev visited Seoul to attend the closing ceremony of a cultural festival marking the 20th anniversary of bilateral ties.

Choi invited Russian choreographer Marina Kondratieva to Seoul in 1991 to introduce the "Don Quixote" ballet to the local audience and has also worked with other renowned Russian choreographers.
