Pres.Lee Against Inter-Korean Summit for Political Purposes

President Lee Myung-bak says that he will not hold an inter-Korean summit for political purposes.

Lee said on Sunday during an interview with Japan's Asahi Simbun daily, that an inter-Korean summit is possible any time if it could help achieve the bigger cause, which is the North's denuclearization and peace on the Korean Peninsula.

Lee also stressed that the precondition of the six-party nuclear talks is Pyongyang's commitment to abandon its nuclear ambitions.

On talks for a free trade agreement with Japan, the president said that the resumption of the talks mostly relies on Tokyo, adding it's important to remove both tariff and non-tariff barriers.
