A South Korean actress has been named to win a lifetime achievement award at the 34th Cairo International Film Festival.

Actress Yoon Jung-hee said Wednesday that she had recently received an invitation from the organizers of the event informing her that she would be receiving the award.

Yoon said she was honored and she feels a greater sense of responsibility as an actress. She added that she was proud that Korean films are recognized around the world.

This is the first lifetime achievement award a Korean actor or actress has won in an overseas film festival. Yoon has been preceded by global stars Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Lauren, and Alain Delon in receiving this particular award.
