NK Offers to Resolve Issues on Geumgang Tours

North Korea has offered to discuss resuming tours to its Mount Geumgang resort when the two Koreas meet for Red Cross talks next Thursday.

The Unification Ministry in Seoul said that the North's Guidance Bureau for Comprehensive Development of Scenic Spots on Thursday sent a message to that effect through the Gaeseong Complex management committee.

In the message, the North asked government officials from the South to join the Red Cross talks to discuss the resumption of the tour program.

The North also proposed that the two sides discuss and resolve its months-long hold on South Korea's assets and property at the mountain resort.

South Korea earlier asked Pyongyang to withdraw its freeze and seizure of South Korean facilities if it wants to discuss the tour resumption.

The official added that the government will send three Red Cross officials to the planned talks, as was the case in the previous round of talks last month.
