NK Repeats Call for Talks on Tour Resumption

North Korea is once again urging South Korea to discuss resuming tours to the North's Mount Geumgang resort.

A Web site operated by the North's Committee for Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland, or "Uriminjok-kkiri," on Friday said that the two sides should come to the negotiating table and discuss the issue in order to improve strained ties.

The site said that Seoul should not present any preconditions for inter-Korean talks, stressing that improvements in inter-Korean relations rely on the South's attitude.

The North's Guidance Bureau for Comprehensive Development of Scenic Spots recently proposed inter-Korean talks to discuss the tour issue --- a call that the South rejected. Seoul instead asked Pyongyang to withdraw its freeze and seizure of South Korean facilities at Geumgang if it wants to discuss the tour resumption.
