A South Korean government official says that Seoul has yet to obtain proof that North Korea is preparing for another nuclear test at a site in Gilju County, North Hamgyeong Province.

The official said that Seoul is closely monitoring North Korea’s nuclear facilities, including those at the test site in Gilju, and is sharing related intelligence with other countries concerned.

But he refused to elaborate on the details of government analysis on satellite imagery released by a British military information firm, which Japan’s Sankei Shimbun recently cited as evidence for its report that North Korea appears to be preparing for a third nuclear test.
