NK Issues Threats ahead of S.Korea-US Joint Drill

North Korea has denounced South Korea and the United States for their plans to hold a joint military drill in the Yellow Sea starting Sunday.

A Web site operated by the North's Committee for Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland, or "Uriminjok-kkiri," on Saturday called the planned drill another unacceptable military provocation.

The site added that U.S. and South Korean authorities should not forget that it is the North’s principle to counter any preemptive strike with merciless “bolts of lightning.”

The site then threatened to turn the strongholds of its enemies into a “sea of fire” should they try to trespass into North Korean territory.

The site said the North’s guns are still set to open fire.
