Gov't Maintains Ban on Travel to NK Complex

The Unification Ministry says it will continue to ban employees of South Korean firms from traveling to the Gaeseong Industrial Complex in North Korea.

The ministry issued the ban on Wednesday, one day after North Korea’s artillery attack on Yeonpyeong Island.

However, similar to Friday, the government will allow on Saturday seven vehicles carrying fuel and food for South Koreans residing in the industrial park to enter the North.

Currently, there are 539 South Koreans residing at the Gaeseong industrial park and 14 are at the Mount Geumgang resort. On Friday alone, a total of 140 South Koreans returned from the North.
