'S.Korean Artillery Missed its Mark in Counterattack'

Senior Grand National Party lawmaker Kim Moo-sung says that the shots fired by South Korea at North Korean coastal artillery positions last week did not hit any of their intended targets.

South Korea fired 80 shots at North Korea following the North’s artillery barrage on the South Korean island of Yeonpyeong in the Yellow Sea last Tuesday that left two South Korean soldiers and two civilians dead.

Kim, citing satellite imagery provided to the global intelligence provider Stratfor by DigitalGlobe, said that of the 80 shots fired by the South, 35 landed in the ocean.

Kim said that when South Korea fired back, North Korean artillery guns had already slid back into tunnels and that not a single shell reached its intended target.

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff has declined to comment on Kim’s remarks.
