The North Korean military has reportedly added to its arsenal some 100 multiple launch rocket systems capable of hitting the South Korean capital area.

A military official in Seoul said that with the new launchers, the total of such weapons held by the North Korean military has increased to 52-hundred. However, the official did not comment on where the new launchers might be located.

The official added that the North Korean air force appears to have also established a new automated air defense system and strengthened its interception capabilities.

He said that the North has added some 200 armored vehicles to its existing fleet of 39-hundred and deployed part of the mechanized unit to areas bordering South Korea.
