Japan has included as part of its exhibit at its Yasukuni Shrine a number of rare Korean historic and cultural relics.

Included in the exhibit are a helmet and a suit of armor that date back to as far as Korea’s Goryeo Dynasty.

The armor, embroidered with dragons on blue silk, suggests that it was owned by a member of Korean royalty.

South Korea currently has just one suit of armor from the Goryeo era, which was made with iron and was worn by a general.

Yasukuni Shrine has been a topic of heated debate between Japan and other countries in the region, as it honors millions of Japanese war dead, including a number of Class-A war criminals from World War Two.
