Culture Ministry Announces Policy Tasks for 2011

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has announced its ten key policy goals for 2011, including a plan to attract ten-million foreign tourists to the nation.

As part of efforts to meet the goal, the ministry will develop high-end tour programs tailored to affluent Chinese tourists and will increase the number of Chinese-speaking tour guides.

The ministry will also work to devise a new law on increasing support for the tourism industry.

South Korea will also host two international conventions on tourism next year. The first will be a trilateral meeting among the tourism ministers of South Korea, China and Japan in Pyeongchang in June. The second will be a general meeting of the World Tourism Organization in Gyeongju in October.
