UM: Resumption of Inter-Korean Talks Depends on NK

South Korea says the ball is in North Korea’s court in regards to North Korean proposals for a resumption of inter-Korean talks.

An official from the Unification Ministry in Seoul said Friday that in order for such talks to be held, North Korea must demonstrate a sincere attitude and that Seoul’s stance on the issue has not changed.

North Korea had proposed talks to discuss ways to resume tourism to its Mount Geumgang resort and issues related to the Gaeseong Industrial Complex in the North.

South Korea, in response, called for discussions on the North’s sinking of the South’s “Cheonan” naval vessel, artillery attacks on Yeonpyeong Island and denuclearization.

However, Pyongyang has made no mention of South Korea’s demands for talks on such issues.
