UM: S.Korea Awaiting NK Response on Talks Proposal

Unification Minister Hyun In-taek says that South Korea is waiting on North Korea to respond to Seoul’s proposal for inter-Korean talks to discuss North Korean provocations.

Hyun made the comment on Friday in an interview with KBS, adding that he doubts the sincerity of the calls for inter-Korean dialogue made by North Korea on multiple occasions since the start of the new year.

On the stalled six-party denuclearization talks, Hyun said that South Korea and the U.S. are firm in their stance that denuclearization must proceed and that inter-Korean relations must develop.

He reiterated that in order for this to be achieved, South Korea and the U.S. believe that North Korea must take measures in good faith as a prerequisite.
