A number of commercial facilities inside the Gaeseong Industrial Complex in North Korea have shut down in recent days amid South Korea's ongoing restrictions on cross-border passage.
Seoul has been restricting visits to North Korea since the North's shelling of the South's Yeongpyeong Island in November.
Six out of nine stores including a supermarket and a bar located inside a hotel at the complex have recently closed. The hotel is operated by South Korea's Hyundai Asan.
Of the six establishments, four of them halted operations in December in the wake of the Yeonpyeong shelling, while the other two closed earlier in the year around the time Seoul placed a ban on cross-border passage in late May of last year.
A restaurant inside the facility housing the Gaeseong complex management committee is also known to have closed in December.
