S.Korea Seeks to Include Jeju on World Wonders List

The Cultural Heritage Administration will set up a task force to support the nation's efforts to get Jeju Island on the list of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

The administration plans to form a task force from six related offices to promote the island at home and abroad.

The administration says the island deserves the designation in view of its beauty and value as a natural cultural asset.

The island has already been crowned with three UNESCO designations, including recognition as a natural heritage site, a world geological park and a biosphere reserve. The island also has 36 designated natural monuments, which is nine percent of the nation's total.
