The government plans to send a proposal to North Korea on Wednesday or Thursday regarding the timetable and agenda for preliminary inter-Korean military talks.

The talks are aimed at coordinating a high-level inter-Korean military meeting proposed by North Korea and agreed to by South Korea last week.

South Korea says it will seek to hold the preliminary discussions at the inter-Korean truce village of Panmunjeon prior to February 16th, which is the birthday of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il.

The discussions, should they be held, would mark the first time for military authorities from the two sides to meet since the North’s artillery attack on the South’s Yeonpyeong Island last November.
