S.Korea: S-N Talks to be in 6-Party Framework

South Korea says the denuclearization talks it plans to hold with North Korea will, in the end, be held within the framework of the six-party talks.

Foreign Minister Kim Sung-hwan told reporters Tuesday that the task of confirming whether North Korea is sincere about denuclearization is being discussed among relevant agencies.

Kim said North Korea must demonstrate through action its commitment to denuclearization and must show that it is pursuing measures to take responsibility for last year’s sinking of a South Korean military vessel and the shelling of Yeonpyeong Island.

Kim said that the measures North Korea pursues in regards to these demands must be acceptable to the South Korean public.
