At the 59th Venice Film Festival last Sunday, South Korean director Yi Chang-dong won Best Director for "Oasis," with Best Young Actor going to Moon So-ri for her role in the movie. Oasis is the 48-year-old Lee's third movie, a love story between an outcast and a disabled woman. This is the first time a South Korean director has captured the award in the Venice competition. Director Im Kwon-taek won Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival this past May.
