S.Korea Dismisses NK Call for Parliamentary Talks

South Korea has dismissed a round of inter-Korean parliamentary talks proposed by North Korea, calling the proposal part of a routine offensive.

Unification Ministry spokesman Chun Hae-sung made the comment to reporters Friday.

Chun said that the North continues to refuse to take responsible measures in regards to last year’s sinking of a South Korean naval vessel and the shelling of Yeonpyeong Island. He said that the North’s refusal to do so will not help inter-Korean relations progress.

Chun said Seoul is calling for responsible actions by the North and the holding of denuclearization talks in addition to planned military talks.

North Korea’s Central Committee of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland proposed the inter-Korean parliamentary talks on Friday.
