NK Expresses Support for Denuclearization

North Korea has announced that it supports the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and the implementation of the 2005 joint statement adopted during the six-party denuclearization talks.

A spokesman from North Korea’s Foreign Ministry said that as long as hostile relations continue with the U.S. and South Korea, activities by any side will be interpreted as provocations.

Pyongyang stressed that in order to speed up the denuclearization process, an atmosphere of trust must be created without prerequisites through peaceful dialogue and negotiations.

The spokesman went on to say that the participating nations at the six-way talks must make the bold decision of avoiding further tension on the Korean Peninsula and must begin talks with concrete agendas in order to reach an agreement.
